GREENFIELD, Iowa - A catastrophic tornado ripped through the small city of Greenfield, Iowa, on Sunday, March 6, 2022, leaving behind a trail of destruction and a tragic toll.
As of 529 PM PST, officials have confirmed four fatalities and at least 35 injuries. The tornado, one of five confirmed in Iowa that day, left a wide swath of obliterated homes, splintered trees, and crumpled cars.
Emergency responders are currently on the scene, conducting search and rescue operations and assessing the extent of the damage. Madison County officials released the names of the deceased on Sunday, while the injured were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
