In 2021, Ariarne Titmus made headlines at the Tokyo Olympic Games. She stunned the world by defeating the legendary American swimmer Katie Ledecky in the women's 400m freestyle final. This victory marked the first time an Australian woman had won an individual Olympic swimming gold medal since 2004.

At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Titmus once again showcased her dominance by winning gold in the 400m freestyle for the second consecutive time. This triumph secured her status as one of the greatest female swimmers of all time.
