Star player succumbs to second-quarter hit

Tallahassee, FL- Florida State University football fans held their breath Saturday as star linebacker Amari Gainer departed the field with an apparent injury in the second quarter of the Seminoles' game against the University of North Carolina. Gainer, a senior and one of the most experienced players on the team, was injured while attempting to tackle UNC running back British Brooks.

Gainer remained on the ground for several minutes before being helped to his feet by trainers. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, but he did not return to the game. The severity of Gainer's injury is not yet known, but he is expected to undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the extent of the damage.

A key player in the Seminoles' success

Gainer has been a key player in the Seminoles' success this season. He leads the team in tackles and has also recorded two interceptions and a forced fumble. His absence will be a major blow to the Seminoles' defense, which has been one of the best in the country this season.

The Seminoles are currently 5-0 and ranked No. 5 in the country. They will face their toughest test of the season next week when they travel to Clemson to take on the No. 1-ranked Tigers.
