Cleveland Cavaliers Fire Head Coach JB Bickerstaff
After 4+ Seasons and Three Postseasons
The Cleveland Cavaliers have dismissed JB Bickerstaff as their head coach after four-and-a-half seasons and three postseason appearances. The decision comes after the Cavs finished the 2022-23 season with a 50-32 record, marking their second-straight season with 50 or more wins under Bickerstaff.
Leadership and Career
Bickerstaff joined the Cavaliers in 2020 and led the team to an unexpected playoff berth in his first season. He then guided the team to consecutive 50-win seasons in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Prior to his time in Cleveland, Bickerstaff was an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies.
The Cavaliers are now searching for their third head coach in as many years. Bickerstaff's departure marks the latest chapter in the team's ongoing rebuild, as they look to return to contention in the Eastern Conference.
